Hello and welcome to the page all about me.....
Oh dear it's daunting to have to write about yourself, but I know your all
interested, otherwise you wouldn't have clicked on this page!
I have a varied background beginning at art college in 1997. I began my
studies at Penwith college in Penzance where I studied Art and Design,
photography and ceramics. All of which I really enjoyed, but I decided to
pursue a different creative path which lead me to the University of Lincoln in
2000 where i gained a BA in fashion design.
After all this hard work I decided a holiday was in order! So off I went
backpacking around New Zealand for a year, which wasn't long enough! This is
where I first came across cloth dolls and on first site I knew this is where I
wanted to direct my art work. The country is amazingly beautiful, which is full
of inspiration and ideas. The cloth doll artist out there are very lucky.
After returning, I worked for various fashion houses designing casual wear
before I got the opportunity to practise my art. That came later with my
children! Now I'm just waiting for the time!
During this journey I found it hard to find the resources to create these
whimsical textured pieces of art. So this is how cassierafferty.com was formed.
A place where you can get everything from patterns to hard to find yarns and
pencils. I also spend hours washing, processing and dying fleece so you can get
the best prices! cassierafferty.com is growing all the time with new added
products every month and a great on-line forum where we can all connect, chat and share ideas!
